APRIL 29 2014
Bramhall Circle Dance Group celebrated International Dance Day with a free extended open session and simple dances from many different countries. This also coincided with our sixth birthday.
Timperley Circle Dance Christmas Party: A lovely big circle this year creating an atmospheric evening of party dances and meditative dances encompassing the spirit of Christmas. Thank you everyone.
Timperley Country Fair: Dancers from Timperley Circle Dance Friday evening group, Sale Thursday afternoon group and Chorlton group were joined by visitors dancing outside our pitch, see photos page. We also danced in the main arena: first a demo of a simple Greek dance and then joined by around 50 spectators of all ages for a Turkish party dance. The sun shone and we all had a lot of fun.
Kevans 60th Birthday. Local dancers and visitors from further afield joined us in a wonderful dance celebration with live music from Triskell and Kostas the Greek.
Bramhall Circle Dance Group enjoyed an evening out in July at Ego Restaurant in Bramhall who were running a Greek night. See video page for a couple of clips of us dancing in the restaurant. We are hoping this may become a regular event. See video page
TAI CHI EVENTS
Our first local Qigong Master Class workshop - A visit to Hazel Grove by Master Faye Yip. See photos page. The workshop included Dao Yin Yang Shen Gong 12 and Ba Duan Jin. Thanks to everyone who attended and made the day such a success. As well as wonderful teaching it was a good opportunity to get together with students from other local schools and we hope to follow up with a local event on World Tai Chi Day in April and organise a return visit by Master Faye next year.
Really was the best year of Tai Chi in the Park with perfect weather for six weeks and a lot of people discovering us while walking or cycling in the park. Next year we will be somewhere in the park but the exact location will depend on the Bramall Hall redevelopment work scheduled for 2015.
Tai Chi in the Park: 5th Year - best yet - we managed to use the lawn six weeks running with more people turning up. It was so good that we even planned a bonus 7th week (but unfortunately the weather had other ideas)
Members of both Bramhall Tai Chi classes enjoyed a lunch meal out together at Napa
Tai Chi in the Park: We didn't miss a week this year. The weather wasnt quite up to using the lawn on all six weeks but we found other more sheltered spots instead.
On Sunday July 25th 32 people joined in Tai Chi on the Croquet Lawn at Bramhall Hall. We were one of 132 locations running a simultaneous Tai Chi lesson in an attempt to break the record for the biggest ever multi-location Tai Chi Class. The event was conceived by Andy Spragg of Re-vitalise Tai Chi who led a very large group at the Womad world music and dance festival.
In Bramhall we made a day of it by following the Tai Chi with Circle Dance at the Bramley centre, also in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. This was also a good session with 21 people joining in.
Between the two events we raised £162 from the Bramhall event.
