My Tai Chi Background:
Ø Trained and licensed since 2005 to teach Paul Lam’s “Tai Chi for Arthritis” (TCA) parts 1 and 2.
Ø Certificated by Master Wing Cheung (2007) to teach Taiji Qigong 18, also known as "Shibashi". I offer both Set 1 and Set 2.
Ø Qualified Sun Style Tai Chi Level One Instructor. Certified by Master Faye Yip of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute.
Ø I have been leading classes for Age Concern since September 2005, and have a City and Guilds FE teaching certificate.
Ø I studied Tai Chi for several years in the 1990s with local and international teachers (Cheng Man Ch’ing short form, Bagua and Qigong). I am now focussing on traditional Sun style Tai Chi and deepening my practice of Qigong.
Ø Understanding of health issues in the older population: I am an ex State-Registered Podiatrist and have worked in the NHS; I am an associate member of the Tai Chi Forum for Health (TCCKF); I have a diploma in “Extend” exercise for over 60s.
Ø In addition to private classes I have led funded courses for local U3A groups and senior citizens, and sessions for disability groups of all ages eg David Lewis Centre and South Manchester mental health resource centres.
I have been Circle Dancing for 14 years and first started leading Circle Dance in 2001. Circle Dance is a mixture of international folk dance and choreographed or meditative dance. I like to balance my choice of dances and enable people to enjoy dancing while looking after and focusing on their whole body, as well as enjoying the music and having fun. All dances are taught, no partners are needed, and each program is selected depending on the abilities and interests of the group.

In addition to my Tai Chi qualifications I am also a qualified Life Coach (DipNMC - Life Coach Practitioner Diploma from Noble Manhattan). I have added certified training in Hypnosis (CMH) with the Proudfoot School of Clinical Hypnosis, and short courses including training in basic NLP techniques and Stress Management. I am not currently offering individual sessions but I use my training in all areas of my work.
I also completed training as a Community Mediator in 2004 and am an active volunteer as well as doing some freelance consultancy work. Mediation helps to resolve disputes between neighbours.
